Bellmont Baseball Records Back-To-Back No-Hitters

DECATUR, Ind. – Tuesday night junior Ryan Okoniewski threw Bellmont’s first no-hitter in 19 years as the hurler blanked South Side. It only took 24 hours for the Braves to garner another one, as junior Mason Shinabery no-hit North Side on Wednesday night to give the program back-to-back gems.

On Wenesday no Fort Wayne North Side batter was able to locate Shinabery’s pitches during the game. Shinabery struck out eight batters, walking two, while recording his momentous feat. He got Zeb Wilson to strike out for the final Northside out of the top of the 6th.

Five runs in the opening three innings allowed the Bellmont Braves Varsity to easily put away Fort Wayne North Side. An RBI double by Brett Baker during the first inning and an RBI single by Austin Knous in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Bellmont Braves Varsity.

Josh Brune did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Bellmont Braves Varsity, reaching base four times. He scored three runs and had one RBI. He doubled in the fourth inning.

Corbin Wilson ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed 5 runs in 3 innings, walked four and struck out one. Jacob Steinke pitched 1.1 innings allowing 5 runs (4 earned) while giving up 7 hits.

The Bellmont Braves Varsity built upon their lead with three runs in the third. Baker kicked things off with a single, bringing home Brune.
The Bellmont Braves Varsity piled on four more runs in the bottom of the fourth. The inning got off to a hot start when Brune doubled, plating Jordan Amacker. That was followed up by Adam Weaver’s single, scoring Brune.
