ANGOLA, Ind. (WANE) A six-month long investigation by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department has led to the arrest of an Angola woman on a charge of neglect of a dependent causing serious bodily injury.

Shyanne R. Kauffmann, 21, was taken into custody just after 8 p.m. Thursday.

The police investigation began in September 2014 after the sheriff’s department was contacted by the Steuben County Department of Child Services regarding a six-month-old infant who appeared to be malnourished and had to be placed on a ventilator.

Kauffman is being held without bond until her initial court appearance.
