Burger King manager admits to taking money from store

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A New Haven Burger King manager has been charged with theft following an investigation into $1,458.51 missing from the store.

According to the affidavit for probable cause, sometime between December 19 and December 24 of 2014, Jeremy Church, 30, took money from two missing deposits.

Church said in a statement to police he borrowed the money to from the deposits to help him get out of the hole from the holidays. In one incident he admitted to taking $50 from a deposit and $888.17 in another deposit.

He said he used the money for his car payment, storage, insurance, to pay his phone bill and he gave some of the money to his wife. He also said he used some of the money to buy gas, cigarettes and food.

Church said he intended to talk to Burger King’s director of safety and security about taking the money, however he never had the chance.

The director told police Church never had permission to borrow money from the company. Church was charged with one count of theft.
