FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A rivalry will be renewed on Friday night as the Fort Wayne Komets and Kalamazoo Wings open their best-of-seven first round ECHL playoff series at War Memorial Coliseum at 8 p.m.
These two met 15 times during the regular season with the Komets holding a slight 8-7 advantage.
The Komets bolstered their roster on Tuesday, adding high-scoring forward Garrett Meurs from Lake Erie of the ECHL and signing defenseman Connor Kucera out of Bowling Green State University.
The biggest question for the Komets is who will be starting in goal. Roman Will was named the ECHL’s Goalie of the Month for April, going 4-1 win a 1.75 goals against average in five regular season games. Meanwhile, Pat Nagle perhaps the most valuable player on Fort Wayne’s team during the first half of the season, but gave up six goals in a loss at Kalamazoo last Friday.
Head coach Gary Graham told WANE-TV he hasn’t made a decision on who will start the series in goal for the Komets, nor has he decided if he will use a rotation at the position.
