4th Dollar General hit by robbers in 3 months

Police were called to this Dollar General Sunday morning after reports of an armed robbery.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Employees at a Dollar General on the southwest side of town were held at gunpoint Sunday morning while two men robbed the store.

Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department were called to 3906 W. Jefferson Blvd around 8:30 a.m.

Police spokesperson John Chambers confirmed that the men entered the store with guns and took the employees’ cell phones. Police later found some of the phones behind the store. The men got away with an unknown amount of cash.

At this time there is no vehicle description.

Chambers said the two people who entered the store were described as black males.

This is the fourth Dollar General to be robbed early in the morning since the beginning of the year. Although the descriptions of the men who robbed the store are similar, Chambers said he could not confirm if this robbery is connected to the previous Dollar General robberies.
