INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – When Dane Fife left the head coaching position at IPFW to take an assistant job at Michigan State four years ago, he did so for a number of reasons – and that included a shot at coaching in the Final Four.
As a number seven seed in this year’s tournament the Spartans have made an unlikely run to Indianapolis, giving Fife the chance to roam the sideline at Lucas Oil Stadium.
While it is his first Final Four appearance as a coach, Fife is no stranger to the Final Four. As a senior at Indiana University Fife helped guide the upstart Hoosiers to the 2002 Final Four with I.U. eventually falling to Maryland in the National Championship Game.
