Ohio police pursuit ends with crash in Indiana

DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – A driver was taken to a hospital and a dog to a veterinary clinic after a police pursuit ended with the pursued driver crashing into a ditch Wednesday morning.

According to the release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, Brain S. Hulbert Jr, was driving northwest on Spencerville Road before 8 a.m. A sergeant on patrol for the Hickville Police Department was in pursuit of Hulbert when they crossed into DeKalb County, Indiana on CR 64. Hulbert failed to negotiate a turn on CR 64, left the road and ended up in the ditch just west of CR 81.

Hulbert was taken to the hospital for an internal head injury. A dog in the car with Hulbert did survive the crash and was taken to a veterinary clinic to be checked out.

Any charges Hulbert may face are pending as the Hicksville Police Department and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department continue the investigation into Hulbert and the crash.
