HUNTINGTON, Ind. (WANE) – The Homestead boys basketball is heading to the State Finals for the first time in school history, after taking down South Bend Riley 90-69 in Semi-State on Saturday.
The game was a family affair for the two head coaches. Homestead’s Chris Johnson got the win over his older brother, Mark, the head coach for South Bend Riley.
Homestead was in control of the entire game. The Spartans were led by Caleb Swanigan’s career night. The 6’9″ senior netted a career high 40 points and had 19 rebounds. Jordan Geist followed with 21 points. Tahj Curry scored 13 points.
The Spartans will face Evansville-Reitz in next week’s 4A State Finals. The Panthers won their semi-state game over Richmond 92-75.
The Championship game will take place at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:15.
