FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A history teacher has his weekend and summer job all lined up. Andrew Bigelow began his first full season as a Major League Soccer referee this weekend.
Bigelow, who teaches at DeKalb High School, was named to the league’s referee roster last month. He had three tryout games during the 2014 MLS season that helped him land the gig full-time this year.
His first game of the season was Saturday night when the Sporting Kansas City faced the Portland Timbers.
Bigelow is an assistant referee, also known a linesman, and can be seen on the sidelines of matches helping his crew call offsides and fouls.
