FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – March 18, 2015 is a day Jacob Bailey will likely never forget.
In the morning the South Side senior found out he was the school’s valedictorian. A standout baseball player, Bailey then signed to play at Trine University later in the afternoon.
“Not really any way to describe it,” Bailey told WANE-TV when asked about his big day. “Just more excitement, a little bit of nervousness to it. I’m really looking forward to college and hopefully continuing my success not only as a student but also as an athlete.”
Bailey will study physical therapy at Trine and intends on earning his doctorate.
“I loved the coach and the team,” Bailey told WANE-TV. “Coach (Greg) Perschke’s a great guy. He teaches the game the right way – really focuses on the fundamentals and the values that come from the game.”
Bailey picked Trine over the University of Findlay.
