Scholarship fund gets a boost from Tim Horton’s

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Tim Hortons of Fort Wayne will be remembering the tragic death of Bishop Dwenger student, Haley Nellum by donating 10 percent of the store’s sales from March 24 to March 26 to a scholarship fund named in her honor.

Tim Hortons, which is new to the Fort Wayne market, opened in December of 2014 and is located very close to the intersection of Stellhorn and Hobson where Haley was killed by a drunk driver on March 29, 2014.

The members of Bishop Dwenger High School’s SADD group (Students Against Destructive Decisions) held a walk last summer to raise money to start the scholarship fund in memory of Haley.

The first award from Haley’s scholarship fund will be allocated next fall to a sophomore student at Bishop Dwenger who is heavily involved in community service. Additional donations may be sent to Bishop Dwenger High School to the attention of The Haley M. Nellum Scholarship Fund. Tim Hortons is encouraging other local businesses to join them in honoring Haley in this beneficial way.
