Camp was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital for treatment. As of Tuesday afternoon, Hicksville Police Chief Monty Ballinger said Camp’s condition was listed as critical and unstable.

Although investigators aren’t stating what lead up to the argument, neighbors told NewsChannel 15 that police had been to the home where the shooting took place several times in the past.

“She’s a great person. I don’t know a lot about her, but Marge has always been a good neighbor,” said Ruth Wonderly, “It’s sad, but she’s fought for years to get him help and do the right thing, so I don’t know.”

Margaret Camp, 71, Hicksville, has been initially charged with felonious assault in connection with the shooting, according to police.

She is scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday.

The incident is under investigation by the Hicksville Police Department, Defiance County Sheriff’s Department, and Defiance County Prosecutor’s Office.
