Hundreds of counterfeit DVDs seized

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WANE) Indiana State Excise Police officers found hundreds of counterfeit DVDs while searching a South Bend tobacco shop.

Police first started investigating a Stop and Go located at 1914 S. Miami St. after someone complained that the company was selling unlicensed copies of motion pictures.

On Saturday, officers seized 271 DVDs along with cigarettes that were being sold individually, which is a violation of Indiana law.

Balwinder Singh, 23, of Mishawaka was arrested at the tobacco shop and preliminarily charged with fraud. The business faces citations for the preliminary administrative violations of selling cigarettes below the state’s minimum pricing and for single sale of cigarettes.
