FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) No one was home when a fire broke out in a bedroom at a Fort Wayne house in the 2700 block of Palisade Drive, according to firefighters at the scene.
According to the report from the Fort Wayne Fire Department, a neighbor called and reported smoke coming from the house around 12:30 p.m. Thursday
Crews were called to the house, which is on the southeast side of Fort Wayne, around 12:35 p.m. Thursday. Firefighters said there was a dog in a separate part of the house not involved with the fire. They reported that the dog was fine and there were no other injuries. It was placed in the care of an Animal Care and Control officer.
The house suffered heavy smoke damage and moderate fire and water damage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
