Driver killed after hitting guardrail

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) – Heavy snow accumulations proved deadly for a Columbus man who died in an accident on U.S. 31 on Sunday morning.

Columbus police responded to a car accident on southbound U.S. 31, just south of Lowell Road, at approximately 11:42 a.m.

The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Columbus Republic.

Police report that the man’s SUV left the roadway and hit a guardrail, before flipping over and partially ejecting the driver.

Police have not released the driver’s name as of Sunday afternoon.

Police are still investigating the accident.
