Police looking for man who tried to cash fraudulent tax refund check

Police provided this photo for the man they think tried to cash a fraudulent US Treasury tax refund check.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Fort Wayne Police Department is asking for help finding a man they said tried to cash a fraudulent US Treasury tax refund check.

According to police, the man walked into the Ace Cash Express on Coliseum Boulevard on February 18 and tried to cash a fraudulent US Treasury tax refund check for $5,604 using a fraudulent temporary Indiana paper ID. Police did not provide any more details on the incident.

Police ask that anyone who knows the person pictured call Crime Stoppers at (260) 436-STOP (260-436-7867) or 1-800-237-STOP.
