FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) It’s been another record setting year for attendance at the Headwaters Park Ice Skating Rink. The 12th season of skating will wrap-up on Sunday, March 1 at 8 pm.
The previous attendance record of 26,106 skaters set during the 2011-2012 season was broken this past Saturday, and Geoff Paddock, Executive Director of the Headwaters Park Alliance hopes to crack the 27,000 skater mark. If that were to happen, since the rink opened in November of 2003, all-time attendance would be about 258,000.
Thanks to a number of foundations, including the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne, the Auer Foundation, the Lincoln Financial Foundation, PNC Charitable Trusts, and the Lupke Family Foundation, the rink has not raised rates since it opened in 2003.
