Arrest made after infant hospitalized with fractured skull

SPENCERVILLE, Ind. (WANE)   A 23-year-old man is accused of causing serious injuries to a six-month old girl.  Indiana State Police arrested Juan Luis Ledesma of Spencerville, Indiana Thursday on two felony counts of battery and two felony counts of neglect of a dependent.

A state police detective was called to Parkview Regional Medical Center at 1:45 am where medical personnel were treating the infant for a fractured skull, internal head injuries and a broken rib that was in the process of healing.

A news release issued by the Indiana State Police did not indicate who brought the child to the hospital, Ledesma’s relationship to her, or what led investigators to him.

The Auburn Police Department, the DeKalb County Prosecutor’s Office and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department also took part in the investigation.
