MBB: Davis Leads Purdue To 83-67 Win Over Indiana

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) – Fort Wayne native Rapheal Davis scored 19 points and Purdue’s stifling defense shut down No. 22 Indiana 83-67 on Wednesday night.
The Boilermakers (13-8, 5-3 Big Ten) have won three of their last four including back-to-back victories over ranked opponents. Purdue already has matched last season’s conference victory total, too.
Kevin “Yogi” Ferrell led the Hoosiers (15-6, 5-3) with 21 points while James Blackmon Jr. scored 13 — not nearly enough for the Hoosiers to avoid their first two-game skid of the season.
The difference was defense.
The Boilers held Indiana without a basket for 5 1/2 minutes in the first half, then allowed just one more basket over the next five minutes. That drought left Indiana in a 30-15 hole.
After the Hoosiers cut the deficit to 38-27 at the half, Purdue started the second half on an 8-0 run and the Hoosiers never caught up.
