Firefighters battle fire from duplex roof

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fire crews battled a duplex fire Thursday afternoon and returned to the scene in the evening in an effort to keep hot spots from rekindling.

When firefighters first got the to two-story duplex in the 1200 block of Barthold Street around 4:40 p.m, they found smoke coming from the roof.

One adult was inside at the time and was able to get out safely.

The fire is believed to have started in the attic.

Neighbors call the duplex the “Halloween House” because of its purple color.
