FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) The southbound lanes of I-69 near the GM plant near the 297 mile marker were closed for about an hour and a half early Thursday afternoon as the result of a head-on crash involving a pickup truck and a Jeep.

According to the Indiana State Police, the driver of the pickup, Joey D. Hinton, 32, of rural Ossian, was traveling north at about 12:15 pm on the entrance ramp to northbound I-69 from I-469 when for an unknown reason he drove across the roadway, through the median and into the southbound lanes of I-69.

Hinton’s truck collided with the southbound Jeep, which was driven by Ashlee N. Williams, 24, of Markle. Both Hinton and Williams were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.  Police say both drivers were wearing their seat belts.  Neither vehicle had any passengers.
