Fire causes damage at Carter’s outlet in Fremont

Fire caused damage inside the Carter's outlet store in Fremont.

FREMONT, Ind. (WANE)  A fire caused damage to the Carter’s children’s clothing store in the Fremont Outlet Shoppes Monday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to 0655 W. State Road 120 around 2:20pm after getting a report of heavy smoke inside the building along with flames in the ceiling area. A fire was located above a furnace system in the middle of the store. Crews were able to knock it down and keep it contained. The building suffered minor smoke and fire damage. The connected buildings were also evacuated. The Hanes store had minor smoke inside the building, but there was no damage to any merchandise.

The damage is estimated to be $10,000.
