BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana freshman guard James Blackmon Jr. was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Monday, picking up the honor for the second time this season.
The Marion, Indiana, averaged 13.0 points over the Hoosiers two games last week, led by a 18-point, seven rebound performance in the win over No. 22 Ohio State on Saturday. He helped his scoring by going 5-for-5 at the free throw line, including a couple of clutch charity tosses in the final minute.
Blackmon also earned top freshman of the week honors from the conference office on Nov. 24, after averaging 22 points and six rebounds in IUI’s three wins during the week that ended Nov. 23.
The Hoosiers continue Big Ten play at home on Tuesday, hosting the Penn State Nittany Lions at 7 p.m. on Big Ten Network.
