FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) The Fort Wayne Salvation Army located on North Clinton Street is open for people who need shelter from the cold.

The shelter opened Friday around noon and will stay open Saturday and possibly through Sunday.

John Woods, a member of the Salvation Army’s Disaster Services Team, said the organization decided to open after receiving a call about there being a need for extra shelter space in the city.

The Salvation Army has enough cots for 100 people. However, Woods said as long as the organization has room, they will take anyone who needs shelter.
