Gas station robbers make off with cigarettes, cash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne police are investigating an armed robbery at Rickers BP at Saint Joe Road and Saint Joe Center Road.

Police were called to the gas station around 3:45 a.m. Friday.

Investigators said two men went inside and at least one had a gun. A witness who was delivering papers to the gas station was able to give a description of the men. A black male, who is about 6 feet 4 inches, was described as wearing a black coat. He entered the gas station with a gun and told the woman to put her hands up and get on the floor.

The other black male, who was about 5 feet 10 inches, was wearing a brown Carhartt type coat. He went around the corner and took less than $100 cash and 55 packages of Newport cigarettes.

The vehicle the men were driving is described as a small silver SUV. Police said the vehicle left the gas station going east.

No one was hurt.

The incident is under investigation.
