Child found in car during meth bust

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) Police discovered a child inside a car while they were arresting a man for having drugs during a traffic stop, according the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

Police were able to make the arrest after they received a drug tip. They arrested Brian Lee Slone, 37, of Silver Lake Thursday around 3 p.m. after he had left his workplace in Pierceton, Indiana.

Officers pulled Slone over and when they searched him they found two grams of methamphetamine. He was arrested and preliminarily charged with a felony possession of methamphetamine along with neglect a dependent.

The Department of Child Services has given custody of the child to its mother.

Slone’s arrest was the result of a joint-investigation. Departments involved include the Warsaw Police Narcotics Unit, Kosciusko Count Drug task Force, Warsaw Police Department, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
