FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – It took firefighters less than an hour to get a fire under control at the Coliseum Inn Sunday afternoon.
The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to the motel, which is located at 1020 North Coliseum around 3 p.m. Investigators said it started in a downstairs room and then spread to the second floor between the walls and attic.
Authorities said the people inside the motel were able to evacuate the building and no one was injured. Firefighters said around 40 people are displaced from the Coliseum Inn.
The American Red Cross was called in to help people who were displaced as a result of the fire. Firefighters said no one will be able to live in the building for a while due to its condition.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
