Angola man arrested for stabbing sister, mother

ANGOLA, Ind. (WANE) – An Angola man faces murder and attempted murder charges after police say he stabbed his sister and his mother.

According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department, Jeffery Peppler, 49, was arrested and preliminarily charged Saturday night. Police responded to a disturbance involving a knife between two women and a man in the 3000 West block of CR 100 North in Angola around 9:45 p.m.

When police arrived, they said Jeffery’s sister, Paige Peppler, 52, of Angola was found dead. Jeffery’s mother, Linda Peppler, 72, of Angola was found in critical condition. She was taken to a hospital in Fort Wayne and is now expected to survive.

Jeffery Peppler was taken into custody and is being held without bond in the Steuben County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in court sometime on Monday.

The incident remains under investigation.
