Kami L. Ellis, 27, was the passenger in the car. The coroner said she died from blunt force trauma. When emergency responders arrived at the scene, they found a 2007 Nissan 350 Z engulfed in flames in a field. Milford firefighters found a charred body in the passenger seat, a spokesman for the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department said.

Police are still investigating the details surrounding what happened to the driver and couldn’t release any information yet.

Investigators have preliminarily determined that the vehicle was speeding and going east on CR 1350 N. The driver then lost control, slid off the road and hit a tree and sign post before stopping in a field, according to investigators.

An autopsy was performed on Ellis Sunday by Forensic Pathologist Dr. Scott Wagner, MD, and Forensic Odontologist Craig Nelson, DO.  Using dental records, doctors were able to make a positive identification and also determine the cause of death.

The Kosciusko County F.A.C.T., Sheriff’s Deputies and the Prosecutor’s Office are still investigating the crash.
