1,000 needy families receive Christmas dinner

MARION, Ind. (WANE) About 1,000 families in need received a Christmas dinner Saturday, thanks to a local church.

Organizers at River Marion Church in Marion handed out boxed meals Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Meals consisted of fresh ham, potatoes, vegetables and cake.

“It’s exciting. There’s a lot of energy in our church, being able to give and do something like this for our community. It’s also very humbling because you realize as you’re out and about shopping and doing things, there are other people who are struggling,” said Amy Biegel, Board Member of River Marion Church.

There was no sign up or screening process required if people wanted a box.

The church is located at 759 South Lenfesty Avenue in Marion.
