Traffic stop ends in pursuit, arrest

AUBURN, Ind. (WANE) – A man is in custody for drug and resisting law enforcement charges after a deputy tried to pull him over for speeding, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department. A deputy attempted to make a traffic stop around 8:05 p.m. in the 4000 block of CR 19. Dustin Crager,19, of Auburn, was going 82 mph in a 55 mph zone, police said.

Officials said Crager failed to pull over after the officer activated his emergency lights and sirens. Crager then disregarded a stop sign on SR 8 and turned south on CR 19. He disregarded another stop sign on CR 19 and turned east onto CR 48, police said. He pulled over after driving a short distance on CR 48.

Crager admitted to the deputy that he had marijuana and a marijuana pipe inside the vehicle. Police took Crager to the DeKalb County Jail on the following charges:

  • Resisting law enforcement with a vehicle
  • Reckless driving
  • Possession of paraphernalia
  • Possession of marijuana
