12/12 Highlight Zone – SAC Opening Night












FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – North Side’s Jujuan Starks tallied 20 points to lead two-time defending SAC champion North Side over Snider 52-46 Friday on the opening night of Summit Athletic Conference play.

Sean McGee added 13 points for North Side, who was handed the no. 2 seed when the SAC Holiday Tournament brackets came out on Wednesday. Snider was named the top seed, meaning the Redskins and Panthers could meet again soon in the SAC title game December 27th at Wayne high school.

In other SAC boys action on Friday Bishop Dwenger downed Concordia 74-69 in overtime, Jagger Surface tallied 20 points to lead Northrop over Wayne 51-37, while Bishop Luers bested South Side 78-68.

On the girls side, reigning SAC champion Concordia took down Bishop Dwenger 59-35 behind 26 points from DeJour Young. Snider bested North Side 56-23 as Nourachia Jackson tallied 18 points for the Panthers, Shayla Sutorious scored a game-high 27 points as Wayne beat Northrop 60-50, while Maria Moore and Taniece Chapman each scored 20 to lead South Side over Bishop Luers 68-52.

In NHC girls play Homestead moved to 2-0 in conference play by topping New Haven 84-26. Karissa McGlaughlin led the way with 18 points while Josie Fisher and Savannah Buck each had 14. Down in Ossian it was Norwell handing Columbia City its first loss of the season by a 62-50 margin. Kiersten Murphy led Carroll with 20 points as the Chargers defeated DeKalb 74-46, while East Noble improved to 9-1 overall after beating Bellmont 46-23.
