TOTW: Blackhawk Christian Boys Basketball

With all five starters returning from last season and a perfect 3-0 start to this year, Blackhawk Christian's boys basketball team is this week's FWO Team of the Week.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – With all five starters returning from last season and a perfect 3-0 start to this year, Blackhawk Christian’s boys basketball team is this week’s FWO Team of the Week.

To date, the Braves have beaten Fremont, North Side, and New Haven. Wins over the Redskins and Bulldogs were last week, two schools that are more than five times the size as Blackhawk, who is inside the AP’s top ten this winter.

Nobody on Blackhawk’s roster has ever beaten North Side or New Haven. Jay Sefton was Blackhawk’s coach in the 2010-2011 season. That was the last year the Braves topped New Haven.

The Braves had not beaten North Side since at least the the 1993-1994 season.

Marc Davidson, who is in his second season as the Braves’ coach, took Blackhawk to the 1A regionals last year with sectional wins over Howe Military, Elkhart Christian, and Lakewood Christian Park. The Braves fell to Marquette Catholic in the 1A regional semi-finals.

Davidson said he hoped the continuity of five-returning starters would lead to more success this year.

The Braves continue the season on Saturday with a home game against Woodlan.
