FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A 20-year-old Fort Wayne man faces a robbery charge in the case of another man who was beaten, robbed and stripped of his clothes back on November 30.
The victim, Anthony Andrew Rice, told investigators he had arranged to meet a female friend for breakfast that day and he got into her SUV after each had driven separately to a gas station. Once the woman, identified as Alexandra Leigh Summer Brown, began to drive away, two men jumped from the back of the vehicle and one of them began choking and hitting Rice. The attacker, identified as Cori Austin Vibbert, told Brown to drive to an alley. Once there, Rice told police he was pulled from the vehicle and thrown to the ground where he was kicked repeatedly. Vibbert then allegedly stripped Rice of his clothes, took $700 in cash along with his jewelry and an iPhone 6. Vibbert, Brown and the other unidentified man then drove away.
Officers were called to the scene a short time later and Rice told them he had known Vibbert for some time and at one point the two had been friends. Detectives were able to track down Brown and she admitted to letting Vibbert use her phone to contact Rice and lure him to a meeting so he could be robbed.
A formal charge was filed Tuesday.
