Two men make off with cash from New Haven bank

NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WANE) – Two men made off with an undisclosed amount of cash after holding up the Fifth Third Bank at 1230 E. Lincoln Highway in New Haven on Tuesday.

According to police, the two men entered the bank around 1:40 p.m. Neither of them displayed a gun but one man made a motion in his pocket as though he had a gun in it.

One of the robbers stayed int he lobby, while the other jumped over the counter and ordered an employee to hand over cash.  After getting the cash, both ran out of the bank in an unknown direction.

A K-9 was brought in and tracked the robbers for several hundred feet to a spot where they may have been picked up by a getaway vehicle.

No one was injured in the robbery and police said there were no customers inside when the robbery took place.

Police ask anyone who might recognize either of the suspects in the photos in this story to call Crime Stoppers at 436-STOP or the New Haven Police Department at 748-7080.

The following descriptions were released by police:

Suspect 1 – Black male between 5′ 8″ and 5′ 10″ tall with a slender to medium build wearing dark jeans, dark shoes, sunglasses, a black hoodie and a brown hat under the hood.

Suspect 2 – Black male between 6′ 3″ and 6′ 6″ tall with a slender to medium build, wearing dark jeans, dark shoes, a tan hoodie with the hood pulled up and a brown hat under the hood and a dark jacket over the hoodie.

East Allen County schools were on supervised lockdown for a short time, but it has since been lifted.
