FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Komets should be more than thankful this Thanksgiving weekend. The team wrapped up its third win in as many nights Saturday, with a 6-4 victory over the Orlando Solar Bears.
Shawn Szydlowski netted two goals to move him to a team-high 20 points on the season.
Fort Wayne had a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play, but Orlando responded with three goals in the third.
The Komets would rally in front of their home crowd at the Coliseum. The team scored two more in the period to tie the game at 3-3 after by the second intermission.
Garrett Meurs, who scored his first and second goals of the year the past two nights, doubled his season total with two goals in the third to put the K’s in front for good.
The Komets’ win gives the team 14 on the season. As of Saturday night, the team owned a three-point lead over second place Toledo.
Fort Wayne is off until Friday, when the team travels to Cincinnati.
