OSSIAN, Ind. (WANE) – A crash just north of Ossian hurt two people and shut down State Road 1 for about an hour Saturday night.
State Road 1 was closed between E 1050 N and E 1000 N, which is also Davis Road. Emergency responders were called to the crash just south of E 1050 N at 6:49 p.m. The road was reopened around 7:45 p.m.
Richard Schuckman saw the crash happen told the NewsChannel 15 crew at the scene that a minivan going north on SR 1 slammed into the back of a black car that was also going north on SR1. That sent the black car into Schuckman’s path; he was going south on SR 1. He swerved and ended up in a ditch. He was not hurt.
NewsChannel 15’s videographer said one man was taken out of the minivan on a stretcher and another man was taken out of the car on a stretcher. They both conscious and were transported from the scene in ambulances. Their injuries or conditions weren’t released.
It’s not clear if there were any other people in either vehicle. It’s also not clear yet why the driver of the minivan rear-ended the car.
