FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The high school boy’s basketball season is still young, and only a couple of local teams on the court Friday. The day included a Homestead loss in Lexington, Kentucky.
Caleb Swanigan and his Homestead teammates fell in day one of the Bluegrass Festival, a regional basketball invitational, featuring some of the best teams and players in the area. The Spartans lost to Chicago-Curie, 49-37.
Swanigan scored 14 points in the loss, and grabbed 12 rebounds.
Kentucky coach John Calipari, and Auburn coach Bruce Pearl were two of a few coaches on hand to watch some of Friday’s games in Lexington.
The loss put Homestead at 1-1 on the year. The Spartans will face White Station, from Tennessee, on Saturday.
The other area game ended in a Southwood loss, 95-65 to Logansport.
