World Aids Day activities planned at IPFW

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  World Aids Day will be observed on December 1, and this will mark the 26th anniversary of the event.  The Aids Task Force in conjunction with the IPFW LGBT  Resource Center will be hosting an event at the Walb Student Union Ballroom on the IPFW campus.

The AIDS Task Force will be offering free 20 minute HIV testing from 11:00am to 2:00pm. At Noon, AIDS Task Force Community Outreach Coordinator Timothy Price will be giving a presentation, titled “Stopping the Deadliest Epidemic–Stigma.” Timothy will cover how the language we use and the assumptions we make affect the prevention of HIV infection and the lives of those living with HIV.

World AIDS Day is intended to increase awareness, fight prejudice, and improve educational efforts towards stopping the spread of HIV and AIDS. World AIDS Day was envisioned as an opportunity for people everywhere to demonstrate both the importance attached to the fight against AIDS and their solidarity and unity in this effort, and it has become an important event in that it reminds people that HIV and AIDS continues to be a global epidemic.
