Indianapolis Police: Would-be home burglar fatally shot

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police are looking for three people involved in a possible attempted robbery at an east side home early Wednesday, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials said.

Around 12:30 a.m., police say two men broke into a home near East 35th Street and North Shadeland Avenue. A man inside the home told police he heard the men kick in the front door. The man said he grabbed a gun and shot one of the suspects. The other suspect, he told police, ran out of the home.

The suspect who was shot was taken to Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital, where he died.

Police say the other suspect ran to a car where two people were waiting and drove off. Police are searching for the three now.

No suspect descriptions had been released Wednesday morning.
