BERNE, IN. (WANE) – South Adams football was 3-6 when the regular season ended and a month later, the Starfires are one game away from Lucas Oil Stadium. That makes is a perfect time to honor them as the latest FWO Team of the Week.
South Adams outlasted Tri-Central in a grind it out 14-6 win in last Friday’s 1A regional championship game. A key third quarter touchdown pass by senior quarterback Derek Wanner and several big plays by the defense late helped the Starfires secure the win. They will now prepare for 5th ranked Pioneer who comes in with a 12-1 record. The Panthers average over 50 points per game and have won playoff games that include margins of 69-14, 63-14 and 44-0. For the Starfires, it will be their first semi-state appearance since 1992 and just the second in program history.
Kickoff from is set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday night in Cass county.
