The Salvation Army is preparing for a variety of Christmas programs, including the Red Kettles seen throughout the community. They are asking for volunteers to sign up online for a day and a window of time to ring the bell and raise funds for Christmas and year round assistance programs. “The money that we raise over the holidays does not only go to our Christmas assistance programs, but it used to fund our support to those in need all year long,” explains Major Harold Poff. “During times of emergency (flood relief efforts and emergency interventions), and during times of hardship (for those who lose jobs or find themselves in a financial crisis), The Salvation Army is committed to those in need. And we need the community of Fort Wayne to demonstrate that same commitment and help us help those in need.”
