Traffic stop leads to separate drunk driving arrest

DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) A DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputy spotted a stolen pickup truck driving past him during a traffic stop early Friday morning. The truck was quickly pulled over and the officer determined the driver had been drinking.

The incident took place at 1:15 am and the truck had been reported stolen a half hour earlier from Auburn according to a news release issued by the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver, Larry D. Collett III, of Garrett admitted to stealing the truck and he now faces a felony auto theft charge and multiple other charges related to drinking and driving and not having a license.

Collett could face more charges according to police.

The truck belonged to Knott Drainage and Excavating of Laotto.

The Auburn Police Department, the Garrett Police Department and the Indiana State Police all took part in the incident.
