FORT WAYNE, IN. (WANE) – It’s no surprise that Snider will battle for another regional championship on Friday night and the Panthers won’t be surprised by anything they see from their opponent Westfield. The Shamrocks defeated Snider in the 2013 5A state championship by a 36-7 final behind current Saint Francis quarterback Nick Ferrer.
Much like last season, both teams come in playing good football. Westfield started off 4-4, but has reeled off three straight wins by an average margin of 28 points behind a strong running game. Snider’s offense hasn’t been quite as prolific, but the defense has been at it’s best. The Panthers shut down a prolific Wayne offense in last week’s sectional championship win, holding the Generals to just 13 points and 207 yards of offense. Should Snider repeat that level of dominance on Friday, it could mean the Panthers second semi-state berth in the last three seasons.
