Playoffs On the Line As USF Visits #9 Marian

FORT WAYNE, IN. (WANE) – A month ago the postseason and a conference championship seemed as unlikely as Saint Francis falling out of the top 25 to start the season. But as they prepare for their final regular season game, a showdown with in-state rival #9 Marian in Indianapolis, both the playoffs and a co-MSFA title are on the line.

Both the Cougars and Knights enter their meeting with 4-1 conference records, a half game back of Sienna Heights who has already locked up a share of the conference championship. While a win wouldn’t guarantee USF qualifies for the NAIA postseason, a loss will guarantee that their season will be done.

The Knights have had an impressive run as of late, including a win over former #1 Grand View earlier this season. Marian has won three of the last four meetings with Saint Francis, including a second-round playoff win over the Cougars in 2012.

Kickoff from Indianapolis is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.
