TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say a Terre Haute infant died after suffering a skull fracture that an autopsy determined was caused by blunt-force trauma.

A Vigo County judge found probable cause on Wednesday for the arrest of 38-year-old Anthony Wilson on preliminary charges of murder and child neglect for the death of 10-week-old David Hires.

The Tribune-Star reports police say the boy’s mother and grandmother left him with Wilson for about 10 minutes Friday evening as they went to a nearby gas station. They told investigators Wilson was frantic when they returned and the infant was gasping for breath.

The boy died the following day at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

Wilson is being held without bail in the Vigo County Jail. It wasn’t clear whether he has a defense lawyer.
