Police: Body found in Fishers has “significant trauma”

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) – Fishers Police Department said a man walking his dog found a body near 96th Street and Mollenkopf Road in Fishers on Saturday.

According to police, the man called 911 after he saw the body near a small pond area in Windemere Park just after 7 p.m. This park is near The Hearth at Windermere assisted living facility in Fishers. It’s also near The Teddy Bear Day Care and the Windemere Animal Hospital.

Tom Weger, spokesman for FPD said the coroner found significant signs of trauma on the body.

Police set up a media briefing area at 9725 Olympia Drive, which is near the scene where the body was found.

The victim is a white middle-aged male, but police still haven’t confirmed how he died.  They say they are hoping to have an identification on the victim made by Sunday morning.

FPD say they are treating this death investigation as a homicide.

“We do not believe there’s any immediate danger to the residents in this neighborhood at this time,”  Weger said.
