INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – During a traffic stop late Sunday night, an IMPD officer discovered a man dead nearby.

Just before midnight, the officer was pulling someone over near 38th Street and Mitthoeffer Road, on the city’s east side.

During the traffic stop, the officer pulled off 38th Street and onto Tudor Park Drive, which is the entrance to a condominium development.

Police say after that stop, the officer decided to patrol through the addition and spotted the body when just naturally scanning the area around him. The officer checked on him, but he did not have a pulse.

Medics were called and confirmed he was dead.

IMPD says the body was about 75 feet off the edge of Tudor Park Drive, where the average person probably would not have seen him in the dark.

The Marion County coroner’s office said Monday afternoon the person was 25-year-old Tajshon Sherman, 25, of Indianapolis. He died of a gunshot wound to the head, and his death was ruled a homicide.

IMPD asked anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477) or text INDYCS plus the tip to CRIMES (274627).
