KENDALLVILLE, Ind. (WANE) – A woman died Saturday from her injuries a week after a crash near Little Long Lake, according to the Noble County Sheriff’s Department.

The Sheriff’s Department said on October 18, Jonathan Leonard, 24, was driving south on S.R. 3 near N Shore Road when he crossed the center line for an unknown reason. His car struck one vehicle going north driven by James Mitchell, 29, causing it to go off the road. Leonard then hit another vehicle driven by Beth Sexton, 37, who was driving behind Mitchell. The impact caused Leonard’s car to roll over, police said.

Leonard and Sexton were airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital with head injuries. Mitchell and three juvenile passengers in Sexton’s vehicle were taken to a Kendallville hospital.

Sexton died of her injuries after being in the hospital for a week. Leonard is still in critical condition. Mitchell is still in the hospital in serious condition.

The Sheriff’s Department said that Leonard was not under the influence of alcohol during the time of the crash. Officials are still investigating the incident.
