FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A moped driver remained in critical condition Monday afternoon after an early morning crash Sunday.

Fort Wayne Police responded to the 900 block of Lower Huntington Road just after 4 a.m.

The driver, who has been identified as Brady Marret, 22,  was unconscious and unresponsive upon the officer’s arrival.  Paramedics and fire personnel arrived and indicated Marret was in serious condition.  He was taken to a local hospital in serious condition and was downgraded to critical condition by a physician.

Police said the Marret was traveling westbound on Lower Huntington Road, when his moped left the roadway and struck the curb on the north side of the road. Marret lost control and hit a mailbox. He was not wearing a helmet.

Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Westbound Lower Huntington Road remained closed to all traffic while investigators processed the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
